Do the 700's have a floor mount shifter? Hope so, that way we could just come right up the floor like the C4s (i think, is that what you have Cory?)

Happy trails!!

Well this is great news! I was getting pretty worried about replacing my tranny soon, but since there will be a better solution, I'm almost excited for my tranny to fail, but it is going strong at 104k+!!!

Mainly I just replied to get the e-mails on this one..

The set up will use the stock Explorer t-case which is the BW-1354. The shifter can be set up however you want I am sure since there are so many aftermarket floor shifters made for the 700-R4.

Any idea how much these adapters are going to cost?

Any word on a release date? Also, Im not familiar with that tranny, I thought it was a corvette tranny. Is it a manual? How many speeds is it? Oh yeah about how much, do they have an estimate on that? Thanks alot.
-Tim

That tranny is a 4 speed automatic. It can be found in several GM applications.

But you will need a 700r44 from a 60 degree V6 application such as a s10 blazer, on a good note jet/b&m and many other companys build the small 700r4 to hold 450ft lbs torque and 450hp.
Think i will opt for a full manual kit and a b&m ratchet shifter
:D

They are looking into the possibility of using the stock column shifter, but it won't be known for sure until after the tranny is acualy installed.

Is the 700r4 a reverse valve body or is that only aftermarket?

I am getting excited to see how this all turns out. I am posting mainly to get the emails on this thread. Keep up the good work!

need more feed me

I have my a4ld open on the table and this idea of converting to the 700R4 is more than enticing. Is this project a go. Did AA make the adapter and what does it cost? How do I get my hands on this thing quick? Is there any other mods to look out for , or is it direct bolt up to everything, TC and transfer case? Need more info please? I have a 700 lined up now

Maybe you should read the thread;)

just spoke w/ advance adapters

I was so excited about hearing about the conversion I had to call the company. They told me that production is about 3-6 weeks away. They already are producing the driveshafts adapter, which by the way is about $588.00. They are trying to decide whether to use a plate to match up to the flywheel or create an entire new bellhousing. If they use a plate it will run around 250 dollars and if they use bellhousing theory it will be another $500. However well worth the investment if you ask me. I will be in the hunt for these if I decide to keep my X

Peace

Hey cnote76,
Who did you talk to at AA? Was it Vic?

it wasnt vic

If I am correct Vic is the boss. It was another guy an older gentleman. I think it was Frank or something. I dont remember, but it wasnt vic. He is supposed to give me a definate production time

I'm not the owner or "the boss", My title is Sales Director.
I usually do not get involved in product development; however, one day I decided to post a simple question on this board. I would like to thank all of you who offered input to this project. You should all stand up and take a bow. I fought hard for you guys, but It is now time for me to take a back seat. Diff Wack is now dealing with our Engineering and Product Development Dept. (my decision). I will still be monitoring this conversion. I am also obligated to Diff Wack to insure this project goes smoothly. This will be my last posting concerning the development of this product. I hope my efforts will offer a solution for you guys. Sincerely, Vic Carroll

The new output shaft for the 700-R4 is in the production phase right now and will take a while. Basically, it is a new output saft that has a 25 spline to mate up to the stock transfer cases. Once this is done they will have the new tranny built with this output shaft. Unfrtunately, this takes a while, but the good news is it will be part of the adapter kit. This is yet another reason why it is recommended to have a 700-R4 rebuilt f or the conversion.
