a4ld vacuum line question

Okay so I have an a4ld that i have to rev up to 2300-3200 rpm to get it to engage into any forward gear and i have to let it sit when i put it into reverse and it randomly engages. My question is: Is the picture of that cracked vacuum hose would that cause my issues? or would it be something related to the valve body? Either way i replaced that hose and tomorrow i plan on checking the modulator too and replacing that hose if its brital or if it has fluid in it ill replace the modulator

That's only an over fill hose, and not a vacuum line.

Ah, ok so what else can i do to help with the slipping, and not going into gear?

Check the modulator to see if it's leaking. Adjust the bands & kickdown cable.
