A4LD Valve body help

Just a quick little question. When i remove the valve body to replace my 3/4 solinoid is anything going to fall out, like check balls or the like??? When i get the valve body out is there anything else i should do?? Thanks.

I removed the valve body from the a4ld in my BII a few years back. I was worried about check balls etc. falling out too but I was told that there were none to worry about and that advice was correct. At the time I was pulling the valve body to clean it up to see if it helped improve the shifting, it didn't, but I suppose cleaning things up when it is on the bench could be a good idea.

When you remove the valve body from the transmission, no there are no check balls/pucks to fall out. When you remove the separator plate from the valve body after you get it out, then you want to make sure and keep the valve body "upright" so as not to lose anything.
Be sure to keep track of the valve body bolts as there are 3 or 4 different lengths, and they need to go back in the proper holes.

Make sure you replace the gasket between the VB and the transmission case. Also the torque is a critical or at least important item, use a 1/4 inch INCH pound torque wrench. Mr. SHorty's advice is right on. There is no reason to remove the 3 bolts holding the separator plate on the VB... so nothing will fall out.

The only way anything will fall out is if you remove the seperator plate. There's 5 or 6 balls and a like ammount of small rectangular metal keepers at the ends of the springs that can come out if turned over.
