I have 2003 Explorer XLT the ABS light came on, is there a quick way to check it. The light came on during a cold spell -14C up in Toronto Ontario Canada.

Did you do you brakes recently? Cruise still work?
The sure fire way is for someone to tell you which sensor is acting up, some shops can pull ABS codes. . .which cost me $45 at the local midas.

Or the most common sensor failures (usually):
Master Cylinder switch (if failed, it should disable cruise control) was $20, $40 now? 30 second job, only channel locks required.

--if its not the above i'd take it in and get those codes read. -----

Rear ABS sensor on the Diff about $50 for the one, pia to swap out.
Fronts, take your pick about $70 each or $120 with bearing, don't guess at these like i did, lol, $400 later, still the ABS light. Then i had the codes read, and guess what, $20 and it was fixed.

Hey jrford thanks for the info will try tomorrow night when I get in from work and let you if the senor at the master is at fault. Nick
