i got my pro comp add a leafs, aka aal's, from summit...they arrived wednesday, the spring bushings for some reason won't be here till tuesday...anyway, i got the aal's on with no major problems and i replaced the rear diff vent tube that was snapped at axle by previous owner...it was caught up at the bed on a brake line hanger and any articulation just snapped it...funny no one said anything when i had the diffs, tranny, and transfer case changed...and no, i didn't do snap the hose, lmao...
the aal's added 1 3/4" plus over the rear axle even with the shell and carpet kit on...it rides great...the only concern i had was the head of the bolt from pro comp, the one that goes thru center of springs and sits in lift block, is smaller by about 3/16", allowing for some slop in lift block and it was thinner in dia. but longer with fine threads..i got the idea i would go to ford, get a new bolt that was 1" taller and just as stout...wrong, if i wanted the same exact bolt only, it only comes with the leaf spring...so i used procomps..
as for the new rear lift, love it but, i now need to change some other stuff..first, my new coilover shocks are fine if unless i go stock off road, they will be maxed top and bottom end, no problem...the front can now use 1" neopreme spacers so it won't look so tall in the rear as my 1 ton...
need help = if anyone could tell me where to find 1" neopreme front coil spacers and if anyone has any inexpensive shock idea's for the rear would help...i'm thinking something like procomps but i need help with the size...thanks everyone who has been so helpful... :notworthy

still need help finding 1"-1 1/2" coil spacers...and shock sizing...

alignment? i just drove on the freeway for about 10 miles and noticed it pulling to the right...is it normal to get an alignment after an add a leaf...i wouldn't think so...also, has anyone had any problems with the driveline after a 2" and under lift , i think i should be fine but would like to know what to watch for, ty

no air problem...the only dif was adding the aal's..is it normal to be a little off? and i mean the truck, lmao

When I installed aal's on my 89 Ranger I had no problem with the front.

When you lift the rear you do get some weight transfer to the front and caster will change very slightly. Maybe the combination of these things is accentuating an previously existing problem.

If you ever remove the shell and camper kit, be prepared for a rough ride in the rear.

HEY REDFX, i think it has to do with what you said, and the fact that the bolt head and nut are smaller and it gives to much slack and lets the axle pivot one way or the other...this will be fixed this weekend plus my newly arrived rear spring bushings...if i got time, the front will find new spacers too...and then an alignment, but i want to square everything up first...any good ideas where to find the bushings locally...i'm working on balboa this week so feed me some info...

HEY REDFX, i would like to see some pics of your truck...and don't worry, my shell is not coming off this truck unless another is going on and its only 8 mo's old...

You might try 4 Wheel Parts in Santa Ana. I don't know if they will have the bushings but I buy stuff from them occasionally.

Nothing special about my truck but I can send you some shots if you PM me your email address.

well, got my leaf spring bushings in today and resolved the pull problem on my truck...the old bushings went from ok to totally shot in just a couple daysfirst...i beleive it was from the new springs actually flexing..i also had one of the procomp bolts come loose by about 1/2"...i beleive since it had slop, the head would slide around and catch, thus loosing.. i put new bolts in the springs, 10mmx70mm...i had to grind a little on the u bolt plate for the nuts to fit, but the heads were perfect...i also double nutted them just cuz...then, i pulled the old bushings, had to torch the shackle ones out...i belive the bushings were shot and stuck so they also played a part in the rear alignment...i love new bushings and the aal's feel great...so, i seafoamed my trucks, woohoo...i posted a thread on that too, lmao

cheak for sale forum 5 days back some one was selling some solid coil spacers 50 bucks i thk :))

thanks, i found a new bushing supplier with new 2" bushings for 44 bucks, and a 2" bushing and aal kit for under 100...if anyone is looking for these give me a pm, i'll get you hooked up...
