I just bought some Auto Zone Extra load leaf springs for a whopping $30. I am going to install them tomorrow. I already have the Auto Zone Shackles (I will change them to warrior some day but not right now.) Anyways, should that stiffen up my rear end a little and raise it just a little more?

Yep :) as long as it is an aal and not an overload spring that sits on top of the spring pack.

Hmmm

This is an overload spring but it is arched at the ends. It looks like it should push up on it some more. I will see. It shows a diagram of it on the box using the leaf spring below the axle set up (like most manufactures have gone to now) and well, I think it might add a little bit. I am not looking for much. The shackles pretty well leveled it up but it lacks a little bit still.

hey, i bought those same tihngs, and they're not going to work...just order the explorer procomp part#13120 from summitracing.com

Thanks man

I'll take them back right now. Hopefully I can still find the reciept. :worried:

By the way

Did you get the ones that are the full leaf that look like this:
--- ----
\____________/
or did you get that little bolt on half a leaf thingie.

ok i'm very illiterate on suspension lifts and such

now what does aal mean?

is that like a helper spring that you add on the top of the stock leafs and it looks like a regular set of leaf springs?

Ford_Racing_Guy, it means Add A Leaf, and a AAL is a smaller leaf that goes in between the stock leafs to raise the rear end up.

Oh my God i should have known

I guess i just don't refer to them that way,

around here we just call them helper springs,

thanks,

i want to add a small lift in mine after i get it fixed up so i can fit 31's on it

just a thought-you should be able to fit 31's stock with no problem.

i've heard that 30x9.5's fit on stock no prob

but on some Ex the 31's will rub and trimming might be required,

but on a 92 where would the tires rub? the bumper or the inner fender? or both,
cause since i have to remove the bumper and put on a different one maybe i could put some spacer's in to hold the bumper out a little and i could hold off on the lift for awhile and get the body work all fixed up

You should not have a single problem fitting those 31x9.50 on your X. Are you going to use the stock rims or what? If you use the stock rims then there is no reason you could not put those on without no modification.

oh with this other Ex i might be buying i will probably buy a set of 31's for those if they aren't bent up and stuff

and keep the stock tires for when i use it for long distance traveling

or i would like to get a nice set of black rockercrawler rims for the 31's

oh and another thing,

does it matter if the 31's would be MT's or AT's?

isn't the MT slightly larger because they have more tread?

i haven't decided if i want MTs or a nice AT tire

I know that BFGoodrich tires are the same size in the MT and the AT tire, so I would say yes they are the same size pretty much.
