Well it finally arrived. Thanks Blaine (Andy) for helping me buy it.

Now starts the repairs to it. Taking it tomorrow over to a welders house and he's going to weld up the broken tab on the radius arm, for free. So I can at least drive it around until I get a new arm. Turns out it was not a 93 but rather a 91. Now all I need to do is find a 92 and I will every yr from 91-94. It's kind a exciting, I get to do some detective work and find all the mods made to it. Tomorrow sometime I will see how the rear is geared and check for a locker. Stereo was removed but luckily I have a stock deck. The dent in the side just in front of the 4x4 sticker is worse than I remembered, but I have a friend that owns a body shop and I can get free labor for beer and I get to help out.

Fired it up a few min utes after it arrived here at the house and to my surprise it sounds strong. The guy that brought it down for me said it may need a power steering pump, no big deal I figure. I noticed something with the rear brakes and I will check it out tomorrow. They look brand new, but it also could just be fresh paint.

I'm stoked for $1,000 this is now mine, And I didn't even have to go in debt to buy it. I worked a lot of overtime this past 2 weeks 35 hrs in total and that was enough extra money to buy this. WooooHoooo!

Nice! I wish I could find an X like that (I'd even take a stock sport) for that price. Good luck with it.

Man good luck with it. For $1,000 bucks thats a steal.

Looks pretty good too.

Well at least I found out that if it hasn't been regeared the axle code is D4 which is 3.73's. Better than the 3.27's in the other 2 explorer's

Nice find, and, for only 1000 bucks:eek: . Awesome. How many miles does it got?

130K I'm just now checking it over to see what all has been done to it. I found an interesting thing today. The inside has been sprayed with that expanding foam alm ost like gelcoat we used in boats. I popped the rear storage compartment off and looked in it to find a block of foam just beyond the wheel well, I checked and it was on both sides. Pulled up a section of the carpet and wham down there too.

Has someone tried to get it watertight?? Will check more. It does have the extended breather lines on the axles.

More as I find it.

Great deal:D Nice ride:D

Good deal man!! Nice truck!

I found a box in the jack compartment in the rear. I am thinking this is the Keyless door lock, fromm other threads I have read. Where is it on the box that I can get the code for programming a remote? I looked all over and can't find anything. Could this be something other than the keyless entry module?

Ok well I was reading a thread on the differences between the 91-94 Explorers and how you can tell them apart. It said that the wiper switch was different on 91's and that the steering wheels were different as of 93.

I looked at my wiper switch to see what was different and realized that it was just like my 93's switch and the steering was the same with the cruise control switchesand so on. Then I realized this steering wheel must be from a different year Explorer. I looked under the dash and the steering column has red number and letters on it just what you might expect to see from a wrecking yard to identify parts.

I also have the dual cup holders in it. Someone must have changed them out since they were available as of the date of manufacture of this vehicle which was 11/90.

Here is what I have found that need repair or have already been repaired.

Temporarily fixed broken tab on radius arm, some guys from a 4x4 club offered to weld it up free of charge. They are Jeep guys and they had never seen the TTB set-up. They decided it was a crappy design and offered several solutions to ensure that arm never broke again.

It will need new radius arms or arm, new ball joints will be needed. I think that I will replace all the bushings I can for safe measure. The rear antilock light is on and I will need to take a look and see what's going on there. When we pulled the tire to repair radius arm I took the opportunity to inspect the brake pads. Yep they could use changing but rotors look good, they don't appear to have even been turned, they are still nice and thick.

The engine runs and sounds mean, but it's got some lifter noise. Looks like I will be replacing lifters and valves this summer. Power steering is loud and will need to replace it in the future. I've got some interior wiring to work on. The power mirror switch only goes up on passenger side. Both interior door pulls are broken and need to be replaced.

I am pretty happy. I now have some clear projects to work on and don't have to go searching for the next thing to do on my other Explorers. A lot of the things I am finding I have read threads on fixing the problems. I can't wait to get started. I'm heading to Ebay in search of door handle pulls.
