aftermarket bumpers

Trail Ready is bad a$$ but they don't make one for 91-94. I would already have one.

Yes, there is rust around the d-rings. Probably came from where I have used the hooks on my tow straps a few times.

On mine the metal rings constantly rub against the metal bumper. I really should do something about that someday

The only thing worrying me about the TrailReady bumper is the integrated skid plate.

I want to do the SAS soon and I kinda like the leaf springs...although I'm kinda partial to the leaf setup and I'm hoping the skid isn't in the way if it is- coils here I come!

But what????

Actually, by the time I got finished getting it the way I wanted it ran about $2000.00 (ouch).

Three and some change just to custom build it for the 3" body lift...then the lights, the winch...brush guard...

I had read somewhere that to prevent that rubbing, take some of that plastic tubing that is usually used on hand trucks or dollys to protect the metal pipe of the frame, and cut a length of it and slide on the inside of the ring. Do you have any clue as to what I am talking about?

I know exactly what you're talking about, but I want to take care of the rust when I do that

Cool, wanted to make sure that the words I typed on the screen made as much sense as the ones in my brain:D

As far as taking care of the rust, maybe you could run a wire brush in there then hit it with some spray paint some how? I think that there are some solutions that can take care of rust also, but I am not %100 on that.

I hadn't thought of maybe doing it with some sort of solution. I'll have to look into that. Thanks

NOTAJP, almost looks like they sent you a rear bumper and the winch mount for a front.

notajp, I actualy think that may be the wrong one. If memory serves (doesnt serve well usualy) the bumper on the 1st gen attaches to the SIDES of the frame rails. The outsides to be more specific. What you have there apears to attach to the top or bottom of the frame. Tough to tell for sure from that angle. I was thinking about getting the bumper that you got er thought you were going to get. Thats really a shame. Let us know if it even fits. I do not think it will. Also appears that the mounts are more narrow than they should be.

I swore up and down they sent me the wrong one. I tried to scan a pic of the 93-97 ranger "new" winch bumper but the file was to big to post here. It looks exactly like the one they sent me. As far as the mounts go and the size of the bumper, it's correct. The 91-94s mount on the side of the frame. Looks like they added some support over the top of the frame rail. I was going to pull my bumper off today just to see how this one would look anyway. I'll post some more pics here. This thing is beefy and built very nice. I just don't like the square "grill guard" it you will, winch mount. I've been over and over this with James Duff. I'm waiting for their big boss to call me. They weren't the friendliest type. Told them word of mouth in an Explorer Club travels fast when 4-5 guys are waiting for pics of mine before they order from James Duff.

Here's a pic of the bumper on without the fenders or winch mount.

I'm liking it a little more due to the fact that it will protect the fenders and the fenders flair over the extra width of the bumper. If I did not have fiberglass, I'd be pissed!

Looks nice to tell you the truth...especially with the fenders, seems to fit. :)
