I am finding out that I have to replace my Catalytic converters, I am also told there are no aftermarket CAT Converters for my model and I have to order them from Ford. Can someone tell me if this is true? and if not, which one I can order online? I have a code EFMXT03.73DM on my emissions sticker. I found out this is for the flex fuel version of this engine...if I don't use Ethanol can I use the CATS made for the engine for gasoline only?

welcome to EF!

since youre in riverside you are subject to CARB. which engine do you have na or turbo i4 or v6? ya checked magna flow?

I know pretty much nothing about the cats, just posting what I was told by my former mechanic. I am not sure which one would fit what I have. CARB? Not sure what that is. I was quoted $2600 to replace them, thinking if I find them online I can have someone install them for a bit less than that.

It helps if you COMPLETELY identify your vehicle.... Also if you are, in fact, in California.

Welcome to the Forum.
The following is for the 3.5L V6.
This is for the 2.0L engine

CARB = California Air Resources Board

Were they stolen or is this a very high mileage vehicle? Just wondering why they need replaced... If they are clogged or melted, something else needs fixed first.

161,000 miles, I think because it is FLEX FUEL vehicle and I used Ethanol for a cross country road trip it may have effed them up.

flex fuel means you can run e85 no problem. whst makes you think the cats are fouled or bad?

Using E85 or the like will not adversely affect catalytic converters.

Go to the MagnaFlow website or give them a call. I just bought all three cats from them for my '18 sport and Gibson axle back mufflers from Summit Racing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the type of fuel your using is going to make a difference either way. With the MagnaFlow stuff I was able to use all of my stock O/2 sensors. Hope this helps.

Also, MagnaFlow has a recycling program and they pay the return shipping. Got $75.00 back for each Converter I returned. That was $225.00 I wasn't expecting to have until I saw the sticker on the box.

I'd get a 2nd opinion on the diagnosis, seems a little fishy unless you choose to use an oil with high ZDDP in it.
