air box mod

i was thinking all you guys are spending 100 for the kkm filter but if you think about it it is just a filter well not worth 100 bucks. if you take a k&n filter and cut off the bottom of the box then you have the same thing with less hot air from the engine compartment cause the top is still on. i did it to my last car and then changed to a full intake and the cut out was just as good. its like cutting holes but just cut off the entire bottom of the box. let me know what you think

many people here have done this. its called a "swiss cheese air box" mod.
yeah it works...but a cone air filter does give you more area so thus intake is slightly better

but hey if your on a budget cutting the sides of the air box works just fine...leave the bottom of it there..just cut the sides. and drill some small holes in the bottom for water to exscape _

Like he said though, he didn't drill holes, but got rid of the entire bottom of the box. I've seen something similar done before, but I'm happy with my KKM and have no regrets. The engine compartment looks much better without any sort of airbox in it.

yah ive done it to other vehicles befor and it works wonderfully abut i think your right it does look better with the cone filter and with no box. and to eb... why would you leave the bottom on it would just block air from coming up throught the bottom. i say just cut the darn thing off. but its cool you can do it what ever way you want its your expo. thanks for the feed back later.
