Hey, I've got a '94 XLT and I removed the factory airbox for a cold air intake. On the air box, there were 2 vacuum tubes plugged into a little round silver thing on it. Is this some type of thermostat or sensor? Do I need it? I still have both the vacuum tubes so I could easily do something with it. Thanks!

Yes, you need it. I believe it's an O2 sensor but regardless, you should connect everything as it is. I have the MAC Products intake and everything matched up to stock.

Just ziptie those 2 hoses somewhere close to the filter and you'll be fine. They're not vital to anything and are just part of the emissions system, part that doesn't do much of anything.

I ve been wanting to shorten my air intake to get elbow room in the engine room.Does the filter system now fit all on the intake (like carberated?

That would sorta depend on whether or not you want to pass inspection.

I've never heard of anyone not passing inspection due to those 2 hoses. If you kinda hide them under the filter the inspection guys won't even know they're there (or were supposed to be there).

Well I have Veteran's Tabs , so I don't need to go through inspection anyways. I'm just wondering what the little round piece is that was connected to the airbox, where the 2 vacuum hoses plugged into. I don't think it's an o2 sensor since I've never seen one made out of a small piece of metal without any wires.

I think they recirculate warm air from the exhaust or intake manifold for faster warmups, but like I said they don't really do much.

And this has already been discussed at length before.
