Air Conditioning Problem 02 Explorer

I have an 02 explorer 4.0 litre. Just recently, my ac does not appear to be comming out cold. Does anyone have any troubleshooting techniques to see whether it is just a recharge issue or a problem somewhere in the system.

Did you check the pressure with a manifold pressure gauge?

No i haven't. Is this the first step in isolating a low freon/system problem. do i buy a guage with recharge kit? I haven't done too much work on A/C systems.

Make sure that you get a gauge set which is designed for R134A freon. You might just need a charge if the readings are a little low.
