Anyone run one of these? They are supposed to tell you when you need to change/clean your air filter. I have seen them on many diesels. Any opinions?

Cute little gizzmo but I dont think it is necessary. Just change/clean(if its K&N) your filter once a year when you take your annual bath. Thats what I do......

wow, how useless the things they try to sell. just check it when you change your oil.

not realy

its not a good idea to use something for a diesels because of the differance in air pressure needed for the diesels by the time it told you you needed a filter change it would have to be clogged up beyond air flow, supposed to be for service people who have to service big trucks and want to keep a close eye on the filter because the truck can put three to four thousand miles a week on them

but if they are making these for passenger cars now i agree with all the things you guys said but like any guage i dont trust them i want to see it for myself

sorry my 2 cents for today is now spent thank you

I kinda like the idea.. I open the hood and check the oil etc every week, but I hate opening my air box to check the filter.. (those screw holes are getting stripped)..

It is sort of like those things you put on the valve stems that will change colors when your pressure goes down..

If it only takes 5 seconds to check instead of 2 minutes.. more people would check things like that... (people are lazy)

this is off subject but do you play a game called CnC Renegade?

well if

you want to use them i dont disagree with you i just dont trust any guage anymore i like to see what is up with everything under the hood and i will spend the extra 2 min to see for myself because i am in the middle of a engine change now and i will never trust anything but my own eyes.

one thing i am tired of sinking money into something and because of stupid guages i get to do it again i will not be spending $9000.00 again well at least for a while and a lot of miles down the road!

just my two cents but i hope you have good luck with it thank you from the tip guy mcgyver ky:D

i have seen these come factory equipped on many of the gm vehicles... i think trucks mostly though.....

My dads new Dodge Ram (turbo diesel) has one of those. I thought it was quite useless.

As soon as any type or resistance built up (enough to move the little plunger) I would clean it right away becasue that is lost air pressure being used to move the plunger. So I would most likely end up cleaning the filter every week.:D

I'm not going to get this thing. I have enough gauges already and a visual inspection of the filter is easy enough.

One of my work trucks is a 2001 GMC and it has one of those thingys on it. Thingy is that the proper technicial term?
