is the compressor for my dual tone air horns waterproof? or do i need to put it under the hood? i really want it on the roof rack but don't want to ruin it.

I went through 2 of those compressors before I scrapped the system. Water didn't really affect them, but they easily got clogged with dust. Now my aux horns are high powered stock-type electric units.

so the compressor can stay outside on the rack?

I personally would put it under the hood or better yet inside the truck.

I found a very good place for them- in between the radiator and the front grille. You could install them by openning the flap next to the front headlamps. I have mine for 5 years now.

That's where I had mine

i put them in tonight. they are loud as crap!!!!!!!!! i put them on the top bar of the rack and tighted the crap outa them so they wouldn't move. the hella will block anything if they could get hit b/c the hella is highter than the horns. i got a cool switch thing to turn them on and off with and kept the stock horn.

Cam (best friend) also got a air horn but it is the ugaa type and wired it to the stock ones and it is funny!

pics to come soon.

If you could get pics that'd be great. I've always wanted air horns, but don't know if I'd like the look on the roof.

sure man i will when the sun is out and i get my new wind shield decal on that says " H2 Recovery Team"

I like that, those aren't too noticable. Of course, your roof is already full of other stuff to take the attention away :p :D

i love those things, i drive a truck for work and use it every chance i get

i like scarying ppl with them.

What is in the little red plastic tanks? Or are they for the rugged look only?

there gas tanks. there's water in there now for use if a radiator busting or something but if need i could empty the water out and run to the gas station.

If dust is a problem, why not just turn them(horns) the other way? Facing the rear, instead of the front!

dust isn't a problem and if it was the horns don't make the air. the compressor does and the compressors filter would get cloged.

Ahh, I miss understood what Alec was saying. I thought dust and debree were getting into the horn itself from driving.
