can anyone on the planet tell me how to bleed the hcu on my 94 xlt, without having to buy any expensive tool. There has to be a way to do this inexspensively, otherwise, i would have to think there's alot of do it yourselfers out there with spongy brake pedals.

In reply to garry, the hcu is the hydraulic control unit which is bolted under the abs pump , situated above the steering gear. Problem; air in the hcu. If there is anyone who has managed to bleed air out of the hcu without fords expensive tool lets here from you.

No way to bleed the system with out the tool.

How do you know that there is air in it?

You have to take your truck to Ford to bleed the brakes. It took them a whole 10 mins, Im in Brampton Ontario. The dealer here charged me $50 bucks to do.
