air ride system 98 Eddie Bauer

I purchased a '98 Eddie Bauer about two weeks ago with 77,000 miles on it. It's a 5.0 V8 with AWD. The truck is great but yesterday I started getting a "check air ride system" warning. I then examined the truck and noticed that it is sitting crooked in the back with the drivers side lower. I checked to make sure the air suspension was on and it was. Is this something I should be concerned about fixing right away & what might be the problem? (I was thinking shocks). I am a ham and egger. I prefer to do my own work cause I can't afford a mechanic but I am not a natural. Give me a good instructions or a manual & I can prolly figure it out. Any help as to what might be the problem would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not an expert so I'll report what others told me when I talked about the same problem with my 96 explorer.
The previous owner probably modified something in the rear, so from time to time I get the air ride error message. The point could be that the computer still "ignores" the new settings and should be set up.
