i have been going nuts trying to get my horn to work...i hot tested the horn and it sounds...i took the airbag off the wheel and i read power at the horn spring arms and when i push them they ground as they are suppose to and when i release the power is back...i actually thought something was missing but after reading a hundred post i'm thinking a clock spring?...the code is 32 and i have no cruise control on the vehicle...'95 ranger xl standard cab 4x4 2.3l 5 speed...if this is the problem does anyone know where to get one in so. california cheap...i can use all the info i can to fix this problem...there are a lot of slow drivers out here and i really need my horn, lmao.

At first glance, the combination of a code 3-2 and an inoperative horn looks exactly like a broken clockspring.

HOWEVER, you also state that you have voltage at the horn buttons and that says that at least one trace on the clockspring ribbon must still be intact. I guess it's possible that it could be partially broken (cracked?) or something.

yea, thats what i'm thinking...i hate tracing electrical shorts especially when they go back to a part...one full day of beating my head and still not fixed...just today i posted a note in the parts-wanted section...found a used one but it comes with the whole steering column, lmao

+1
Definitely buy a new one. I think they're $50~60.

When you install it, start with the front wheels pointed straight ahead. That will help you "time" the clockspring correctly to the steering. The last one I did had instructions printed right on the clockspring case.

If the relationship between the wheels and the clockspring is wrong, it will be damaged or broken the next time the steering is turned to the stop in one direction or the other.

i would only buy a used one from the junkyard i deal with and they will guarantee it...the ford dealer wants 150 plus tx and i think thats steep...the used one could get me by until i find a new one for cheap and all i am looking for is to get the horn to work right away so i can let the pedestrians know to get off the sidewalk, lmao...no, really i don't want to bypass the horn and put in a button and the swap of a clock spring is quick...know anybody with a cheap new one?

hey, RWENZING!!!! HOLY COW!!!! i just looked over your truck at car domain and you have some bucks in your truck...and BROOKLYNBAY, ty, i already checked them and neither one, the part comes up...in fact, i've tried about 20 websites and 4 local big autoparts stores and no help....but when i look up one for a ford mustang of the same year, (from a previous post on codes) it not only shows up w/price it is in stock...they can't even find it from their distribs....so i thought i would post in the wanted section here...i am hoping to find it locally, hell, i'm in one of the biggest states....and it's a nitemare to get my horn running, lmao..

ty, i went to that link and nothing...i don't know how you got any info but thank you and i'll keep it.

ok, here is the latest...i got a clock spring from karl babiak who i will highly recommend on so many levels...great guy to do business with...i installed it in a record 1 hour 10 mins, first one i ever did, lmao....anyway, code is gone woohoo....last dash light to fix and it's done...now, i still have a problem...the horn still doesn't work...i am thinking that i seen a couple old alarm wires under the dash and i think someone might have clipped the horn wire...i guess i need to find some schematic's that show the wires and maybe colors of wires for the horn, point a to point b....i am hoping to resolve it here before posting a new thread....thanks all

Test your horn directly off of the battery to see if it still works. If it does, then connect a test light to the wiring, and push the horn button. If it doesn't light up, then there is no power there. The reason I mentioned a test light when the horn would make a sound if it has power was to see the intensity of the light. The horn might have a bad ground, and would require more current to make it sound while the light would still glow. Karl is an excellent seller. Post a positive feedback in his feedback thread. Was it a new, or used clockspring?

yes i already did the test at he horn and the wire....the clock spring was used but after looking at the wiring, i think i have another vehicle that some one wired wrong for an alarm and when it gave them problems they cut some wrong wires removing it....i have one big wire under the dash which has 4 splices in it with nothing attached and it is hot....before i fix it i need to color trace the horn wire...in the engine it go's from the horn to a y, another y etc. etc...

dumb question here....how do i post a feedback in his thread???...i can not find his thread nor can i find him in the members list...the good guys are always the hardest to find...

thank you, i posted my feedback....now, who can help me with my horn wiring and or diagram?

yes i did, same as the haynes book...it's missing the horn wiring..
