airbag light info

I just read on the site about the airbag light and it coding a 27 on the 99 ford ranger. I am having the same problem with my sons truck and need to know until I can get this fixed does it effect the airbag actually deploying if in a accident. If anyone knows please let me know.

I can't find out much information on code 27, but from what I've found, is there a "passenger airbag off" light somewhere on the dash or something? Code 27 appears to indicate a burnt out light bulb in that or a bad passenger airbag disable switch.

If what I've seen is correct, it could affect the deployment of the passenger airbag.
