Old thread, but its regarding the topic at hand..I have been looking far and wide for what code 36 means..I cant find it anywhere except from someone else who has the same problem..Does anyone know what this code means??I sent a pm to the guy that had the same prob since it was a couple years ago and I figured he got it fixed but i havent heard from him yet..thanks for any help..

airbag code 32 no horn?

i have been going nuts trying to get my horn to work...i hot tested the horn and it sounds...i took the airbag off the wheel and i read power at the horn spring arms and when i push them they ground as they are suppose to and when i release the power is back...i actually thought something was missing but after reading a hundred post i'm thinking a clock spring?...the code is 32 and i have no cruise control on the vehicle...'95 ranger xl standard cab 4x4 2.3l 5 speed...if this is the problem does anyone know where to get one in so. california cheap...i can use all the info i can to fix this problem...there are a lot of slow drivers out here and i really need my horn, lmao.

if i buy a new clock spring and install it, will the code go away by it's self? i looked at the link and diagrams and there was no picture of a clock spring and it did not say if the code would clear itself...

thanks for the info...i will fix probably next week and i will post a report on how it went, thank you...now if i new what one looked like, lmao...

INDECLOUDZ UA,Mate I had a 36 and I found the problem under the seat ,36 means I believe you have an open circuit ie a short .I found the connector broken and as soon as it was fixed no problems

The infamous ******** trick on the yellow plug finally ceased to work.

I have ordered new yellow plugs ( XL1Z-14B022-AA ) from Torrie at Fast Parts Network ( http://www.fastpartsnetwork.com/ ). he cost was $7.66 plus shipping.

UPS should have them at my door very soon.

Here is the plug ( resistor ) ...

The new plug works like a champ.

Problem solved ( for now ).

You mentioned it was flashing the 3, 7 code. On mine it was the yellow connector under the passenger seat that someone mentioned. It where the side air bag would plug in if there was one. It's capped off with a real small value resister inside and the contacts frequently get dirty and some electrical spray cleaner can help. On 2 doors like mine, it seems to be common that the wires break 'cause when you move the seat up the cable is exposed and easy to step on. I had to jury rig mine because it's impossible to get the pins out of those connectors (safety features). But if your's works after cleaning it, I'd wrap it in electrical tape to keep dust out and tuck it under the carpet instead of hanging it in the bracket under the seat.

Did you replace both of them or just the one on the driver's side? Try to interchange them, and see if the light comes on. Test the resistance of both plugs, and compare them. One might be slightly different.

This issue has nothing to do with the driver's side.
