Hey everyone,
I have been having a problem with my alarm system on my Ex. Everytime you lock it and walk away from it, it will go off within 3-10 minutes. Its gone off at school, sitting outside of my house, just about everywhere. No matter how you try to lock it manually or with the key fob it does the same thing. I did a little research and saw a few people with the same thing but with no solutions other then cutting the old factory system wire. Here is the kicker, found out that it has a ProLock Auto Security System that was previously installed by another owner. Did a little research on google and came up with nothing about the system other then it has some sort of key for it so it will start, but i have no key and it starts up just fine. I have been having this problem for about 6 months or so and havent gotten around to fixing it because dealing with wiring problems is always a pain and i have no information on the system. I have had the vehicle for about 3 years and just in the last 6 months it started this. Has anyone else on here had this problem? And has anyone else heard of ProLock? You're help would be greatly appreciated, I just got it back up and running a few weeks ago with a remanufactured motor and would love to be able to lock it and not have to always leave one door unlocked so it wont go off.

Thanks for the help!
-Jeremy

You may have an oversensitive shock sensor problem. It used to be that if you walked past my truck and sneezed it would sound the horn and flash the lights really quick. It was amusing to watch the innocent bystander get the crap scared out of them, but that got old fast. I found the sensor behind the knee bolster under the steering column, turned down the sensitivity, and it hasn't given me any trouble since.
And by the way, don't go hacking up the wiring unless you know what wire is what. We have the PATS system that will make it impossible to start your truck if you cut the wrong one. The PATS system reads the microchip embedded in your ignition key to authorize the injectors to inject fuel. If the PATS system gets messed up, your truck will sound like it wants to start, but wont because the PATS does not disengage the starter.

Thank you for the quick reply! I'm going to check into it as soon as i have the time. I'm hoping that what you described is the problem and not anything that will require a major fix. But what would cause it to go when sitting in my driveway with no one or anything around it?

Just the sound of passing traffic, the wind blowing on the car (jostling it), even the cat next door jumping up onto it might set it off. Any noise or movement if the sensitivity is up too high.
The piece I found was like a small white square thing (about 1/2 the size of a pack of smokes)with a couple wires coming out of it and a black knob. I just turned the knob all the way the other direction. Never heard a peep out of it since.
