all I did was change the T-stat

Scott, your MAS does have two wires, in the sample tube.

you can clean them with the proceedures found on this site.....
make sure to re-set the computer (battery) when you are done. :)

It is normal for the gage to go up high, then drop to operating tempature after start up.

My gage (not stock) goes up to about 195, then drops to 180, and smooths out to about 190 for normal driving.
The 195 is what the gage reads just prior to the t stat opening (actually opens at 180 on my truck), then wqith it full open it drops back to 180 and works its way up to 190 as all the coolant gets circulated.....oh and I have a 17# radiator cap......

Okay, when I was looking into my MAF all I saw was a screen, behind which was the airbox. Are the wires behind that screen?
