Hi,
My alternator appears to be going bad. There is a lot of noise coming from it at idle - kind of sounds like a hand full of marbles being poured from hand to hand (that was the best I could do for a description).
Anyway, when I called about a replacement, I was asked if I had the 90 amp or 130 amp version. I didn't know. The Ford dealer asked me for the VIN number and then came back after an extended time and said I had the 90 AMP version. I wondered if he guessed at it. Anyway, the 130 AMP version is 1/2 the price of the 90 AMP model. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

The only reason I was suspicious about having the higher output model is that I have the factory towing package and I figured it had to hand more lighting than normal. I also have the factory electronics package with more electrical parts than average (autodimming mirror, auto-headlights ect).

Any advice on this is appreciated.

Dennis

You can run either. They are physically the same.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure before mine went bad I had the 130amp one... I didn't realize that at the time... And now my battery gauge likes to move more when I put a damand on the system... Didn't before :( Oh well, I know better now
