I’ve almost given up hope of ever seeing altezza lights for the 96-97’s so what are some alternatives.

I thought someone posted that chevy s-10 rears could fit with some work, can anyone confirm this.

Any good looking covers – I don’t like the black outs or the stripe ones but so far this is the only option I’ve found.

Thanks

an idea I've been chewing on a while.. would be to take the stock lense.. get whatever paint some of the guys on the forum have been using for this.. and paint the orange portion so that its red.. then taking the black tim of the light.. and painting it the color of your truck.. I think it'd look cool.

another option woul dbe blackouts, or spray on tinting, or try to find someone who is selling their clears.

thats all I can think of ATM :(

Older model S10 altezzas can be made to fit 91-94 Explorers. But it takes quite a bit of work. I spray tinted mine, I'm happy with them.

ive been wondering how hard it would be to take apart the lense? IF i could take apart the lense, i could just wipe away the color with a little gasoline, then seal it back up with some heavy duty silicone sealant, and be good to go (with no money spent)....

not sure how easy that'd be.. also I'm not sure how the gasoline thing works.. I tried that on an old lense off a 70s chevy truck and it didn't do crap..

you'd hafta cut the lense open problably.. theres a clear line you could go down.. but.. it might get torn up in the process.. or not seal properly....

Hartman I like the look of yours. Do you remember what brand of tint you used and how is it holding up, i'd hate to do this and have it start peeling off.

The tail lights are tricky to cut apart because of the way the lense attaches.

The spray tint I used is called Nite Shades.

well there has to be soemthing else..... I was wondering if i covered the whole tail light with bondo to try to make it look as smooth as possible with the flow of the truck, if i could just sort of make the tail lights dissappear? Then i could do my supra tail lights in my bumper like ive always wanted!

maybe.. if you tried bondo you could sort of make a frenched look..

hrmm.. ok brains working now..

how about getting your taillights just filled with metal plates and frenching in some ovals or round LED clusters?

I know I wouldn't do that, I'm not willing to do that kind of body work.. but it'd be interesting to see.

or you could just do this:

this guy frenched them into the.. D pillar? heh, dont know if you could call it that.. but you can see them if you look close.

That looks really nice! i like the navigator lisence plate box. Im almost wondering if i couldnt get tail light covers (usually tinted) and spray em to match my truck, and just disconnect the bulbs, and put lights in somewhere else. Putting lights in elsewhere would be easy, but shaving the current tailights would be mega bucks and mega work.

yes you could do that.. GTS makes clear paintable covers that you can paint from the inside. I'm not sure how good it would look tho. I see a lot of guys with chevys that do that here and get the corvette lights in the tailgate.. looks kinda ghetto.

another thing you may consider is just painting the lense paint color like that, prepping it and spraying it the color of your truck, I'm sure it'd work, but not sure how it'd look.

in that pic.. you can see my belair, middle right :) just thought I'd throw that in

How about changing your tailgate so the 98 Altezza lights fit?..........

I have thought about that before but apparently it would be a lot of work to make the 98 door fit.

listen to what you're saying tho.. changing your tailgate.... for talilights lol

theres a lot of work involved there.

I'd say wait a few weeks... maybe a month before trying that.. the 94s juts got their altezzas.. maybe we're next

yea but I wanna change my tailgate anyway.

it bugs me when I see Caravans with them. but ford sells 5 milion explorers and we can't he altezzazs for 95-97???

my thoughts EXACTLY! you hav eno idea how mad I was when I saw a minivan with altezzas and I still can't even buy any..

Dead Link Removed

look at the things they make altezzas for.. some of them really steam my broccoli.. and then dont follow up with some melted cheese.. and that just sucks

well if you plan to change the tailgate, by al means, go for it lol

i've seen Caravans, Honda van(name??), old ass caravans, astro vans, old s-10's, they have them for every truck. thier is like 3 styles for 98+ but still none for us.

and why do you laugh a the fact that i wanna change my tail gate?

its just a lot of work, the only main difference being.. the tag location and how much it curves...

sure stock the 95 tailgate has thoes black bars.. but with very little work the 95 tailgate can be converted easily to look just like the 98 with its smooth lines, minus the tag and curve

i'm going with all red except for a flamed red/clear back up light each third will be seperated by body matched paint and they will be one of a kind, these won't be something i'm going to want to sell like my grille unless people want to pay the mega bucks to get ahold of clears.
