hey guys i think my alternator has gone out on me. I am thinking of replacing it myself as i am a college student, and low on money. can this be easily done? is there any specific tools needed to do this. Thanks ahead of time for any in put guys! Are there any steps i need to know to do this job?

VERY easy job. You need to loosen the tension on the belt self adjuster. There should be a sticker under your hood showing how. Other than that there are three bolts and a couple wires attached to the alternator. If you have a metric tool set you should be good to go.
 






Make sure you disconnect the battery FIRST. If you short a wrench from the hot terminal of the alternator the body, you will have problems.
 












A Chilton or Hayne's book will be your best friend and once you complete this job successfuly (which you will) you will want to do all of your auto maintenance yourself ;)
