Aluminum Dash Kit Installed!!!

Did it today, took me about an hour and a half...
heres the pics of the install and the final product... it was pretty mindless.

sweet...... did you know that the stock window controls are brushed aluminum? they are just painted black.... you can cover them in oven cleaner or brake fluid and let them sit then wipe them off for a brushed aluminum look

You can also use acetone I believe.

From the looks of your pics, that wasnt one of those sticker things....i checked autodash.com and they had a "flatdash kit"- which sounds to me like the stickers- i dont want the cheap stuff- i want real molded aluminum-but anyway, unless that "flatdash kit" is the real aluminum, i am having some trouble finding a nice kit for a '96 4-door - any suggestions?

mine is the stick on kind... looks good enough for me
to a degree they are all custom "molded" for your explorer... you cant exactly put a yukon kit on your explorer

didn't mean to bag on your kit- sorry. yea, the reason I checked with you because it looked real good and I figured it was actually molded. I guess the stickers don't look like I thought they would. I figure finding real aluminum would be hard and probably pretty expensive too. Looks good!

I havent beeable to find a company that makes any molded brushed aluminum dash kits...but another site is www.wooddash.com they make rosewood, burlwood, synthetic and real brushed aluminum as well as fake and real black, red, blue, white and yellow carbon fiber dask kits. The wood and carbon fiber kits ar around $230 I believe and the brushed aluminum kits are about $170.
