Hello everyone again hope everyone is warm

I have a 2000 ex that i got about 2 months ago and the radio that was in did not pick up my favorite channels, so i replaced the radio, works great and looks good in the slot. still the same problem. I know that signal is good cause it comes in good in my pickup. in the ex channel comes and goes like i am a 1000 miles away

Would the antenna be the cause? how hard to replace? maybe a 2nd ground to the radio?

thanks any and all ideas will be great :us:

Either the antenna isn't plugged in or you live near area 51, I'm betting on antenna issues.

been in area 51,,, wait thats another story. Yep gotta be either its not plugged in or the wire is broken. A relacement isnt spendy, id start with that.

Have someone move the antenna mast and wire around while you are listening to the radio and see if it makes any difference. It it does, then it's definitely antenna related.

i had a 96 where the antenea was pluggged in but did recieve good reception. I had to run a new wire to the mast

YES it is plugged into the radio. can the mast be unpluged?

No not have power antenna

Finally got the time, I pulled the glovebox out and found the Antenna wire and there is a connection. when i pulled it apart the radio come on then went off after the wire was not togather I put the tip off the wire coming fromthe radio into and the radio came on pushed more for it to be seated and it went back off. ( off I am meaning no sound No signal) pulled apart again radio on. So i took the tip off and it still works. I got some heat shrink and placed over the connection and then taped it up. Now I can listen to my favorite channel WKQQ Lexington, KY. Thanks for everyones input.

sorry no pictures I tried

I have a1996 and it had the JBL premium radio. I put in a new head unit and the factory wiring for the radio antenna goes all the way to the back of the truck then to the front again. Along the way there are a few connections and the end result was poor radio reception. To combat this I replaced the power antenna (which did not function) with a used fixed antenna base and wiring that goes directly to the radio. This reduced about 30 feet of unecessary wiring and now I have good signal.

So try replacing the antenna itself. I picked up a new antenna that threads in to the base for $10. You can get universal replacement antennas and wiring and your local parts store. If that doesn't work, check the wiring to the antenna base and into the vehicle. To do that you need to remove the front passenger tire, inner wheel well and you will see where it goes. The wire comes into the vehicle on the firewall by the passenger kick panel/foot well.

thanks
