I was wondering what was a good amp and subs for a '92 explorer? I want to get some good ones that will hit hard.. cuz a friend has 2 12's and 600 watt amp and his dont hit hard.

It is all about how much you want to spend and how much work building a box you want to do or are able to do.

yeah, it does have a lot to do with how much you want to spend. Also, you should be more concerned with the quality of the products you are buying rather than the power ratings. If you get a crap amp rated at 1000 watts, or 600 for that matter, its going to sound like crap. You want to get some quality products. JL makes really good subs, and you can get some of their models for relatively cheap. Basically, get some quality subs, and find the optimum power for those. Then all your basically doing is getting the best amp that you're willing to spend money on that can supply that amount of power. Don't just buy an amp with a ton more power just because it's cheap. You could spend 500 bucks and get a crappy amp rated at 1000 watts, and 3 12 inch subs and it would sound like crap. You could also spend 2000 dollars, get a 500 watt amp, and a 10 inch sub, and it would pound.
