I am about to do a flush myself on the tranny of my explorer, I was wondering if amsoil is really that much better then the mobil1 mercon v fluid. It does cost almost twice as much. Do you think that I would notice much of a difference? Does amsoil tranny fluid really improve gas mileage like I have been hearing? If so, would it improve gas mileage better then mobil1 tranny fluid?

BTW are there any good tuts for dropping the pan and changing the filter on this tranny? I am sure i will not have problems, but I want to be extra sure =)

if you dont have a drain plug, it is safe to pump 2 quarts out of the cooler line before you drop the pan(no more for risk of running the pump dry, always stop flushing if the fluid does not run from the line). It may save you a mercon bath.
