...and the troubles continue (with video)

I did the swap in 3 long nights 1 of them an all day with plenty of metric tools, an engine hoist, jack and jack stands, plastic bags to put labeled bolts in, impact with long extensions for bellhousing bolts 6 of them I believe. Take the plenum off to get in and out. It's not hard if you have someone to help it speeds things up and Torque specs are needed as well for manifolds and plenum. I have $3200 into buying my ex with bad engine and swapping the engines, putting new wheel bearings in it, rear end seals and rear struts. The forum has helped me a ton! We are here go for the swap!!

Thanks Joe!

Were you able to re-use any gaskets (exhaust, plenum, etc)? Also.. appears my engine is a VIN "K" car. Assuming I need to swap out the fuel rails and injectors? Probably should get new injector O-rings, I'm guessing....

I bought new manifold gaskets and plenum. I did buy new o rings for injectors too. You would for sure swap out the fuel rail and injectors too. It won't matter what the vin is I paid no attention to it just swapped the darn thing out with Mustang engine. I put a new thermostat in while I was there was worth the money and time. I undid the front block area without undoing the AC so I didn't lose the charge it makes it a bit harder to get the engine out but worth it if you ask me. Have you found an engine yet? Where about do you live I will look on car-part to see if there are any near you? I might even be able to give you a lead on a trucking company to deliver with a drop gate at your residential area if you are in the upper Midwest?

Found a engine in Ohio with 10,000 miles for $875 out of an 07. You will find these engines like new for less money than the Explorer engines that have more miles and can have the sudden silent death at any time after all your work to transplant.
