Well I just got the 2001 EB in July. Same night the light switch went bad. Took it in to get fixed no problem cept took forever to get the part. When it was done they had scratched the steering column all up. Took till September to get that fixed correctly. Now it is November and the oil pressure sensor went out. Took it to get fixed no problem but now the light switch is illuminated all the time, when the key is on, even with the lights off. Makes no sense. This happens when they was replacing the sensor. So what am I to think. Bad vehicle or should I just keep my cool. I love the truck cept for its broke 2 times in the few months I have had it. That and they seem to **** it up everytime I take it in to get something broke fixed. Your opinions greatly appreciated.

Try a different dealer. Sounds like the one your going to is doing a half-@$$ed job.

Hmm are there any more dealers in the area that can work on it? When I take my truck to the dealer it is treated with the utmost respect.

My suggestion? next time something breaks, dont take it in. That way they wont have another chance to break something else!

Jt, I'm sorry your dealer created more damage than it already is. if you're referring to the headlamp switch on the instrument panel, the illuminated lamp is designed to do that. It's bright when the lights are off, then when they're on, they are dimmed to the point where you've set the dimmer to. Mine does it and since I don't have Autolamp, it helps a lot during night time.

Correct, the light switch should be illuminated whenever the key is on. It would be kind of pointless to only have it iluminated when the lights were on. By having it illuminated whenever the key is on makes it easier to find in the dark for the people that can't remember where it is :) My '97 is the same way except that my bulb is currently missing. I know it used to be there, but when I pulled my dash off to paint it I noticed it missing when I put it back together. I figured it fell out when I removed it and got lost deep down inside.

Damn I musta just been mad when I posted that message. Thats ok tho becuase I took it to the dealer and they had to call the main Ford office to see if that was a defect or not. I will not be going back there. Thanks for the fast reply guys I really appreciate it even with my slow brain.

Mine is working the same way Roberts is working. Most peoples switch does NOT light up because the bulb is burnt out. I replaced the bulb with one from a junkyard, and it works now.

Which dealer did you take it to? Koons in 7 Corners? I went there once just to see if they could squeeze me in for a quick oil change. I stood in the service advisor area for 15 minutes and nobody even said 'hello'.

I had some trouble with Kilmans here in Tysons as well... I could be wrong, but I think a few items were missing from the truck after a service visit.

I bought mine at Koons in Sterling, which is a bit of a hike, but they've always been really good. I only take the X there to be worked on now.

Good luck!
