Annoying

My girlfriend and i were driving around at the beach and i noticed that everytime i stopped when the car got to idle something underneath would rattle. It wasn't coming from the engine and its annoying and makes my car sound cheep. what is it?

IT DEPENDS WHAT KIND OF RATTLE AND FROM WHERE. SOMETIMES WHEN THERE ISN T ENOUGH COOLANT A RATTLE IS HEARD FROM UNDERTNEATH THE VEHICLE. THEN AGAIN IT COULD JUST BE A BAD RADIUS ARM BUSHING AS WAS THE PROBLEM WITH ME. TRY AND PIN POINT THE NOISE AND NOTE WHEN THE NOISE IS MADE.... WHEN YOU ACCELERATE, IDDLING, ECT. OTHERS HERE MAY REFER YOU TO SOMETHING ELSE, TOO.

If it's a very 'tinny' rattle, there's a good chance it's an exhaust heat shield, probably the one on the catalytic converter. If it is, you can either get it tack welded back into place, or take it off (most people do this)

i've had many a rattle and i have ripped off many a heat shield... got one more rattle and one more heat shield... F'er is going down as soon as i get a chance!

Another vote for the heat shield from someone who has ripped off all of his over the years. Just don't park in any tall grass once you rip them off and you'll be fine.

Yeah i am taking it to ford on monday and they are going to road test it. It happens most at idle and i notice it when i go inside the garage and its sitting there and it keeps rattling when the cars in park.
