well it finally happened, I knew it was going to happen all the signs were there, and i tottaly expected it any day... but for some reason i was still upset when it happened today after work...

usually i just hop on the highway and drive straight home but luckily today i was driving a friend home and turned onto a sidestreet, hit the gas and *crack snap POP* nothing no D no R no nothing... luckiliy i had my friend with me and we were able to push it into a parking lot... 33" are hard to move especially when it wanders all over the place and i have to stear and push...

so i guess now i gotta call a tow truck and get it pulled to the shop and get that sucker rebuilt *sigh* right after i spent like $400 on lights, lightbar, and a deep cycle...

that sucks...my moms just took a dump a week ago also..nothing forword nothing backword..it sucks. goodluck with getting yours rebuilt.

How did you know it was going before it did?
If it was just a loud crack/pop noise then no forward or reverse it could just be a torque converter! may want to check that first and also the trans will need to be flushed out real good. And if not it is a good Idea to get a now one when you rebuild the trans any way

Nate

well i hope you have luck with yours im on my third tranny. blew two ald4's and i just got a 5speed out of a ranger and now i need to rebuild second. i hate drivetrain work

That happened to me when I was 85 miles away from home at my inlaws. My front pump gears broke, and clogged up the whole transmission. What a job that was! There wasn't much internal damage, except that everything was clogged up with metal fragments.

how much would it cost to rebuild? I had a 92 ranger xlt auto that was way too much to rebuild when i was in school, thanks for dads. Good luck on your rebuild!

It is hard to give an exact price on these transmissions, since a lot of the time it needs hard parts in the rebuild. Some guys just do a soft parts rebuild on these, and they usually fail after a short time.

after 5 of these I can tell you that on avg its $1,500-1,700 =( Good luck, If my current one dies after the warranty is out I swear Im going v8 so I dont need to deal with this a4ld anymore lol(This most likely will not happen due to budget constraints and lack of know how lol).
