I have seen many on the forum but I have never contributed what I did. Pretty simple, just picked up a 4" pvc coupler and shaved the stop inside the middle smooth. Then just marked, cut, and sealed the box and the plastic divider behind the headlight. I did have to cut down the coupler through on a little bit of an angle to sit flush in the box. I was bored so this took up some time, about 45 minutes or so taking my time. I will post pics shortly after they finish uploading :o)

Another air box destroyed. Do you believe your 2 1/2" (65mm) I.D. throttle body will benefit from a 4" enlarging?

Could you explain why you went to all that trouble? My 96 already goes through the fender. Will you have a bigger intake opening? Not being a smart ass, just curious.

Nope, dont think it will at all, just felt like "ruining an airbox" I guess, lmao

At least you're being rational, and honest.

Is it possible to create some type of airbox with a ram air type hood scoop?

Holy...Tough crowd tonight.
You guys are correct that a CAI on a stock motor like our won't do anything, but at least this mod was not exactly pricy.

I say 'great job'!

Yea kinda tough crowd, but no worries, everyone on here knows their stuff so no big deal. Thanks btw lol

Keep on tinkering and dont sweat the negative coments

I wouldn't say "crowd", that means more then one person.

Eh, grumpy people tonight.

Don't listen to them, just keep making your truck yours.

Even though there's no point in drilling hole in the air box, it's your truck, you do what you want to it.

Trust me, id rather have someone tell me the truth rather than sugar coat it, lol. Just needed something to do and didnt feel like spending money or playing videogames lol. I do however intend on making a mount this weekend for my iphone 5, lots of good clips to buy but some are pretty expensive and i cant justify spending the cash on something with such a simple purpose. I gave some ideas ill post pics of that when im done.

Thanks for being a good sport. Apologies for coming across as harsh and critical, I just thought cutting a 4" hole was excessive. If you are interested, I have a very clean, never oiled K&N #33-2106 drop in panel filter for the 4.0L OHV or SOHC used for less than 12K. You can have it for the cost of a USPS medium flat rate box, about $12. Bought an AFE Pro Dry-S #31-10020 and would rather you have it and not deal with some of the the vultures on CL. LMN.

Is it possible to create some type of airbox with a ram air type hood scoop?

It would but hen you'd have to contend with rain water coming in and sogging up your paper filter.

Oiled filters aren't good for the hot wire sensor.
I suppose a Dacron filter would work.

Another air box destroyed. Do you believe your 2 1/2" (65mm) I.D. throttle body will benefit from a 4" enlarging?

Do you know whether or not the 65mm throttle body is a restriction?
Or does it flow enough for the engine?

That throttle body is fine for a stock ohv. No restriction at all.
Truthfully, till you install a cam with some lift and duration, the motor will not flow any more air than it does now.

Cam, bigger intake, and open the exhaust.

Issue with the 422 cam is that you start to run in to idle issues with an automatic, and that requires an sct device for tuning. Not to mention the dual valve springs required for that cam. The dual valve springs require head spring seat work...... This is a real can of worms once you get started.

Thanks for the filter offer, but i have a 5.0, I assume there is a size difference or no? And it didnt seem harsh, just to the point and honest, no worries
