Hey Y'all,

I just bought a 2000 Explorer as a "new" vehicle for my soon to be driving 15 year old daughter. It is an Eddie Bauer with the 5.0 engine and it has 128K miles on it. It was a single owner and he had all the regular and irregular maintenance done at the dealer (which is really expensive from looking at his receipts!!!). I think I got a pretty good deal and i am learning alot here about the explorer issues and how to fix them.

No real big problems.....just stuff like the crappy center console lid, sagging drivers side, dead radio, moon roof liner falling and the oil pressure gauge not working (actually has the needle UNDER the stop pin).

Anyway.........GREAT website and really helpful people here!! Much appreciated and a huge money saver!!! THANKS!!!!!!

Welcome aboard. The 5.0 is darn near indestrucible. Since it's your daughter's you won't be worring about Torque Monster headers or a flash tuner I suppose:D Just make sure we don't give her any ideas :D:D

LOL!!!! No big time mods.......she is most worried about the stereo, that I will put in, working with her Ipod and that this won't look like a soccer mom car!!

IF she complains about the soccer mom look I will get a hood mount tire carrier and a roof rack with lights, gunner seats and a few metal gas cans.......then she can call it a safari truck!!! :D

A torsion twist, shackles and 31x10.5x15 will take care of the soccer mom look :D

welcome

So true!!!!!!!!!!! I have not even got my hands on this beast yet (title replacements take WAY too long) and I am in love with it just from being on here!!

I even drive by the owners house just to look at it sometimes.......I feel like an explorer stalker!! :D

So far I have bought a replacement stereo, leaf spring helpers and a CAI.......pretty sad for not even having the vehicle yet!! Hopefully early next week!!!

But then she won't be able to hear her music and will need new speakers, amps and you might as well throw a sub in at the same time
