It's been awhile since I have posted here. I have a 02 xlt, 4wd. 4.6. Last time I was having tblr. with broken rear spings, then the bearings. I have since replaced all 4 corners in total. Thanks for all the help.
Now I'm having tblr with the heater. Simply no heat, air cond. is good. Saw the one thread about this problem and now have the console out. Pulled out the plate around the radio and I can look down thru to the door. When I adjust from hot to cold I see the door move up and down on its axis. Oh, this is the basic heater/air. Any suggestions.
Thanks
Jim

There is a heater control valve in the engine compartment. It cuts off the flow of coolant to the heater core when you select cold. I think it is vacum controlled. Make sure it moves also.

Passenger side of the engine compartment. I believe it runs along side the length of the valve cover or near it. It also has heater hoses atached to it.

Well, I think I found it just where you said. Right above the cover, passenger side, one hose in, one hose out. It moved ok. Turn key on, moved control to hot, and the arm of the valve moves to its most extended position, piston moves out. Moved control to cold, arm retracts. Think I found my problem. The arm pivots and everything, but the screw that actually attaches the arm is rusted etc. and does not move. I guess time for a new assem.
thanks alot
Jim

The arm usually rotts off and doesn't move the valve.

Thanks guys, finally replaced the valve and now have heat. While working on that found another problem so starting another thread. Thanks again.
