Another Timing Chain question

Ive developed this awfuly loud rattle/tap/click/tick that increases and decreases with RPM. Its really really loud (hopefully its not a valve or cam) Is it possible the timing chain came loose or misaligned? Just wanted to get some idea's b4 goig into the mech and they try to tell me I need a rebuild job or something

a misalignment issue or teeth off the correct setting wouldn't cause a noise - but a misfire, pour running conditions, etc.

hmm... thing is runs fine no hesitation/idle problems, just this annoying and very scary rattle/clicking noise. Sounds metalic like something is loose and hitting
