I have a 93 XLT... For the past several years, the drivers side power window stops working in the spring/summer, and then starts work again in the Fall/winter. It seems to stop sometime late May, and resumes in late October/November. It started working again today. So, it seems temperature related. On the the other hand, an occasional cool day in the summer, or warm day in the winter doesn't seem to change anything. When the window stops working in the summer and I press the up/down button I can see a draw on the alternator for a half second or so, but nothing else happens. Not that I really expect any solutions, I just thought I would share the ordeal...

That is weird, the only thing I can guess is either heat expansion, something is getting hot and restricting, maybe in the motor, or in the wiring. It sounds like an easy fix, window motors are relativly cheap and easy to install, I just did one on my passenger window. As long as the regulator and the switch works and you have power and ground. Does yours have the modulator that controls all the windows and automaticly unrolls the window fully?

Hang an Oct/Nov calender on your dash and don't ever change it! lol

That is kind of a wierd prob. Good luck!

I might go that route, since I have a broken door handle on the driver's side to repair anyway. (I'm not looking foward to prying the door panel off, but I guess I have no choice.) I don't think have the modulator you're referring to, windows only go up/dwn one at a time and on constant press of a button.

Im just guessing, but I think you have the same problem I did. Mine would work when it was cold out also, and I can only figure that its because there is less resistance on the window when the things get cold. Anyway I bought some replacement gears/bushings on ebay and repaired both windows in about an hour. Now they work all the time. The stock bushings in my motors looked like sawdust

I think in '93 the Ford windows Unionized. They got a lot of Holiday time when they did.

LOL

you know the tiny window people that push windows up and pull them down, well im geussing you got some seniors, they probobly head north for the winter where it is colder (window seniors are the oposite of normal seniors-they like the cold) my solution is A)move north, so they will always be willing to work or B) replace them with some new ones
