Ordered mine too. It's actually the second time I've dealt with them as I purchased a MK1 model in 08. The install was easy and the paint matched 100% and the service was satisfactory. I had no issues with communication during the order and payment process either.

PS: People, this forum is starving for more pictures!!

SERIOUSLY PHOTOS ARE SO SCARCE...thats it I'm starting a photo thread!!

I like that, how do you like the look of it (shark fin)? Please do let us know if there is an improvement on reception, also check it after several days and see how that 3m strips are holding up. It seems like it needs more adhesive for it to last in the long run.

Thank you for posting pics!!!

Ordered mine on the 7th and it arrived today.

Yes in world where I get just about anything from Amazon shipped free in 2 days it was a bit "uncomfortable" to wait 3 weeks and a day but I think it was worth the wait.

Even if you do one thing to your EX to make it different its worth it. Now when the twin of your vehicle pulls up at the light it'll be the other guy noticing the antenna, wheels etc on yours and thinking "hmmm I wish mine had [that feature.]"

When I'm done with my Limited those who pay attention will notice it's just a bit different, not like the next Sterling Gray they'll see drive by. After all isn't what we...those who frequent the Modified part of this forum do it for? ;)

Amen!!!

Preach!!!

Mike, great demo pics, looks great, I'm ordering mine tomorrow, same as your, the Tri White, thank you for the DIY

got mine and installed, just like Mike stated, less than 10 minutes.

Someone above asked about needing more tape. Not a chance! When I was positioning it without the protectant on the tape, I just lightly taped the front against the car body and it was pretty tough to pull the shark fin back up to position it correctly. That tape sticks and I mean it really, really sticks. I'm a big guy and the way I had to pull up on it, I'd feel comfortable having a car wash brush smack that thing without it coming unglued!!

Drove in to work this morning, about 8 miles and if there was any difference in reception between the OEM antenna and the Shark Fin, I sure couldn't distinguish it! I went through all of my FM channels at different points along the drive and there was absolutely no difference in reception. I also played Sirius at various points with the same results but the Sirius is satellite and would penetrate the fiberglass anyway so the true test was the FM. Since the Shark Fin has a built in FM antenna, you are just substituting the source.

Either way, definitely not a concern.

So, my final and concluding comment is this. I like the Shark Fin, it's look, and they did a great job with the product. If you plan a 3 week timetable on your purchase then you are fine as you have no fast expectations. That was my only complaint, that it took longer than they originally advertised but I am pleased with the product.

I just installed mine this morning.
I agree with everything mike said...... It works great.... and looks even better!

On order, yeah, now I just need the x, Sept 1st, come on, thing to do!

got mine today

Flobes:

Don't get your hopes up on two weeks. I'd be willing to make a bet with you that you won't see it that fast. When I ordered mine I got an email thanking me, telling me they had a two week lead time but that they were going to try to get my order out quicker. My order was placed on the 3rd, acknowledge the 4th. It is supposed to ship tomorrow, August 26. That isn't exactly two weeks at my last count!

got mine today, two weeks just like they said, perfect color. Will not be able to install for a day or two, will send pics.

Step by step install

Let us know, maybe some pics of the install would be a good sticky. I think I will order on Monday, my x is due on the 1st.

I received mine today. Total time from online purchase to delivery at home took approximately 2.5 weeks, and this was shipped to CANADA, all in all, pretty positive experience.

First thing's first, clean the truck:

This is all you need:
  • Paper towel
  • Acetone, or rubbing alcohol
  • A Flat head screw driver
  • The Antenna with the supplied hardware

Unscrew the original antenna:

Clean the area around it:

Attach the wire from the Fin and screw it to the antenna base:

Then remove the film off the double sided tape and tear it off:

Place the Fin down and press and voila!

Yeah, just email them telling them what you have, along with your color code. Then they will send you an invoice for paypal and you're in business.

I got a e-mail back from them today and I'll be placing my order.

I searched on the net and the forum for paint codes and couldn't find them so I called the dealer. They gave me a paint code of U6 for red candy. I don't believe that is the whole code. I sent this information to VG so we will see what they come back with.
