Hi.

I have a problem with the radio antenna on My '99 Explorer XLT.

It won't retract/go down which makes it hard to take the car to the car wash - and it's pretty dirty so now I want to fix it...

I bought the car recently, and I'm not even sure if it is an electric antenna - how do I find out.

All I know is that I can push it down about 10 cm., then it is stuck. I have de-mounted it and I can take it out and if looks fine, but I can't see what's at the end of the hole, and it just won't go down enough.

What to do?

Best regards, Rasmus Nielsen.

If you demounted the antenna then you have known right away whether it power or not
since the motor mounted right inside the fender.

I wasn't aware of power antennas on Explorers, I thought they gave up on that idea long ago :dunno:

I was thinking of the same thing but you never know someone might have added an aftermarket job on it

But i am also thinking tho is that some one changed the mast to telescopic mast too.

i have a 1997 ford explorer eddie bauer putting in new head unit . does anyone know what color wire is for the power antenna??? Driving me nuts
