Any 2011+ ham radio guys??

My question would be, where are you going to mount it? I have an ICOM 3220H dual bander as well as a Yaesu FT-7800R neither of which I have had in a vehicle for more that 3 years due to limited space. Also now with the 'Distracted Driving Laws' I would have to get a hands free mic.
Since I lease, I use a magmount antenna but with a moonroof even that will present a problem.

I mounted my Kenwood TM-V71A under the r/f seat - not a big deal .. The bigger concern was getting power thru the firewall - there is a passthru behind the glovebox - A/C unit that comes out under the battery. Difficult at best but usable. As for the antenna - I had a local (emergency services) radio shop install a NMO mount in the roof. The remote head is stuck under the center main control unit with velcro. That sort of restricts entry to the compartment below it a bit. Next unit might not get a Amateur radio at all. We shall see. This one is a 2022 xlt.

I know this is kind of an older thread, but I thought I'd post a few pics of my own recent Yaesu mobile radio installation.

As you can see in the pics, the control head is mounted using a flexible mount; an external speaker is mounted to the side of the console trim. An adhesive mic clip holds the microphone to the center stack, without any permanent damage.

The radio unit itself is sitting under the front passenger seat, while the antenna is an 18" NMO-base antenna that is mounted just ahead of the sharkfin rooftop antenna.

(Installation note: my Sport has the large "twin-panel moon roof" option, but when I dropped the rearmost dome light, it gave me a good spot to drill the 3/4" hole for the antenna mount, without having to remove or otherwise mess with the headliner in any way... especially since I was also able to use a fish tape to run the antenna cable down from the antenna site to the radio, via the passenger-side C-Pillar).
