So I want to take my super stocker on Iron Chest. Think it is do-able? Any one want to come along? For those of you who dont know, Iron Chest has a large boulder field that makes it a difficult trail.

Here is what used to be the hardest part of the trail now looks like:

I think it would be cool to do it now (well at least for those of us who are close to stock :D) It would probably be the only time I would ever take my Explorer up to the top. Only problem is the only time I could get away is mid-October and it would probably have too much snow on it by then.

Anyway as for why it has been graded look HERE. It is supposed to be restored to its old state in a month or so.

October 17th or 18th I could do it (assuming they havent restored the trail yet). If I do go I would like to hit up Tincup as well as any other trails in the vicinity. For those of you who know Colorado weather better than I do, what would the snow conditions be in that area and elevations in the middle of October?

That looks beautiful. Wish I could go. Would be a good drive. Maybe in the spring.

WHERE IS IRON CHEST?

Man! Why do they have to ruin the trail? My Brother turned around in his XJ because it was so technical and it was getting dark. I was wanting to run it in my Ex w/ him. What is the use now? He had that same picture but with some serious boulders eating the jeep. What a dissapointment!

I want to do it now because it is scenic and it still provides some challenge for stockers/ modifieds near the top portion. They will be putting the rocks back when they finish doing things at the top.

I am no longer planning on making this trip. Maybe next year if it is still like it is now.

I am glad they are going to put it back. It might be fun in a few weeks with some snow on it;)

I walked Iron chest one time, that was when my explorer was stock. I then lifted, lockered, regeared, winched, etc. the explorer and then could never find anyone to do it with, now that you guys want to do it, I no longer have the Explorer. What a world! LOL.
