Hey guys,

I need to replace the front and rear shocks for my 05 Sport Trac 2WD. I used Monroe 911122 on the front and Monroe 911035 on the rear last time. Anyone have a better option? They have been decent but just trying to see if there is something better. Thanks!

Any ride or handling issues with the Reflex shocks? You installed 4WD front shocks on your RWD Trac. If you have an issue with bottoming out or a harsh ride, the travel and valving are very different between the 911122 (4WD = 4.375") and 911177 (RWD = 6.375"). A full TWO INCHES of travel difference

EDIT- You installed the discontinued Reflex shocks, not SensaTrac's. Travel specs are STILL the same.

Monroe Reflex is a very good performance and handling shock, albeit a tad on the firm side. OE Spectrum (formerly SensaTrac) is a MUCH softer shock, and valved for ride comfort. 35,000 miles after installing, my SensaTracs are still doing very well.

I didn't have any issues for 90k miles. Its just time for some new ones. I can feel the ride getting worse. I didn't know I installed the wrong ones. Interesting to know. I think I will go with the 37177 though. I was looking at those on Amazon the other day.

OE Spectrum is a great street shock IMO. Between the two, you may experience slightly more body roll and brake dive. It's a trade off, OE Spectrum is a more comfortable riding shock, but not designed for spirited street driving. Monroe has a lifetime warranty for "wear out" or leaking. Also watch for Monroe mail in rebates, usually twice a year. GL

Thanks, just picked up the 37035 rears and 37122 fronts with the mail in rebate for Monroe. Good advice!

^ REPEAT. LOL
