Any wheelin in Virginia???

SteveVB, never heard of a Giovanni's in H-burg, I know of one down in VA Beach,

I dont know if that was the name or not, but if you are heading E on 33 towards the town square. If you take the right before you go down the hill to the RR tracks and continue on down about a half mile or so its on your right - its got a glass front that wraps around the side maybe a 1/4 of the way. I wish i could remember the name.

OK John let me in on how, I tried everything this am, with no luck... please.
You almost had it. You used the image tag correctly, but had the wrong link. The link you put inside the brackets was the link to the page the picture is on. You have to link to the picture itself and nothing else. To get the web address of just a picture, right click on the picture and select properties. A box will pop up that has the address listed. Just copy and paste the address in between the image tag and viola!

Example

Right click on your Elite Explorer icon. After selecting properties, a window pops up with some info. Next the Address (URL) listing, it shows that the web address to your icon is: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/avatar.php?userid=615&dateline=1034654295

Put that inside the IMG tag so it looks like this (without the * in the brackets): [*IMG]http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/avatar.php?userid=615&dateline=1034654295[*/IMG]

And this is what you get: Dead Link Removed

Thanks John

I think I got it.

Happy New Year everyone!! Steve was very close with his guess. Just, I was not keeping up my Swissness but worked on my Mexicaness :D We spent the Holidays with my wife's family in Cholula, Pue. Mexico. It would have been my family's turn to host us, but
- My in-laws are more fun to spend Christmas with
- Mexico is more fun to spend Christmas at
So decision where to go was easy. We had a great time and just came back on Sunday, in the middle of the snowstorm in DC.

I'm not sure yet if I can make it to the run. I have tons of work to catch up with, there is a small group Jeep run this weekend (which I most likely will not attend :( ) and my boys have something with the boyscouts scheduled on the 18th. But we'll see!

Sounds like you had a great time in Mexico Michael! Keep trying to come wheeling with us, we would love to have you and your boys along for the ride.

Yeah try to make it if you can. And make sure to keep the sticks away from your boys :)

Anybody have any idea when and where we are going to meet up? I can get with the guys leaving from VA Beach and we can ride up together, but I don't know my way around up there. Also, how long is it going to take us from down here to get up there, and what are the directions?

Assuming we are meeting at McDorman's in Rawley Springs again, here are some directions from the south and east.

Take 64 west around Richmond and through Charlottesville to 81 north in Staunton. Take 81 north approx. 25 minutes to Harrisonburg. Get off at Route 33 West (I think its exit 246 or 247). Take 33 West around Court Square in Harrisonburg. Remain on 33 West until you get to a small town called Rawley Springs (approx. 15 minutes west of Harrisonburg). There will be a gas station and general store on the left called McDormans, this is where we will meet, if you reach Rawley Springs Mennonite Church on the right you've gone too far. When I head up to Harrisonburg for school it usually takes me between 3.5 and 4 hours.

We still on for this Saturday?

I also have a dilema...I really want to wheel my Ex, but my balljoints are pretty worn out. I have run Kephart before (which I assume will be running this time) and it is not dangerously rough on a vehicle, but I am worried about my front end this time. What risks do I run when wheeling on some worn out ball joints?

I talked to dgibson today and our group will be leaving Chesapeake around 5a.m. on saturday. We do have to stop in richmond real quick and pick up a friend of mine but that should only take about 30mins. Your ball joint is hard to say if it will cause any problems. It may it may not. Why not just go ahead and replace it they aren't that expensive. Question....How hard are the trails up there will I be able to get by with what I've got? 2" tt,shackles,2" bl,31x10.50. I've heard of people going up there in stock form I just want to make sure.

VBVA, I guess it all depends on how bad they are. I rode around with bad ball joints for a while after I put my new front end in. To make you feel better, I have people come in to my shop all the time with bad ball joints/tie rods, and the people never even knew about them. I can shop you pretty much what you need to to though while we are up there if you want to do em yourself.

beachn, you will be fine... except for maybe dictum ridge (hehe). Just as long as you dont mind a few scratches from low lying trees and such.

I had my X out in the mud this weekend. A friend of mine had a few people over to his farm where he dug a + or - 500ft long 2-3ft deep pit. Put it to you this way, a 97 F350 with 10" lift and 38's bottomed out his front axle on a rut... with 38's! I definitly bottomed out on the same rut with my 33's, but eventuall worked out of it... I'll post a pic of her all muddy tomorrow.

Chris

I still plan to be there for Saturday, and maybe Sunday.

My friend in the Bronco won't be able to make it though because he can't get off work.

Alright, looks like I am goin to be driving my Ex for this trip. My balljoints will just have to make it for me, otherwise I will be screwed. I will wheel some easy trails (Old Long Run, Dry River, Skidmore Fork and possible Kephart) with you guys and park it for the hard stuff (Dictum).

Weather predictions....as of the report at 4:15pm EST it will be snowing Thursday night and all day Friday in the Harrisonburg area (that means more snow in the mountains!) and the high temperature for Saturday is 31 degrees! Should be a cold and fun trip this weekend guys!

Meeting time? 9 am? 10 am?

If we get on the road @5 we should be good for a 9-10 meeting. We are there for both days. I had mine buried in the mud yesterday. We went down a trail that this guy said stock jeeps run. Well, if a stock jeep can do, I know the x will. I can tell you one thing, the will never be another stock jeep make it down that trail. I dug that hole REALLY deep. The hole was almost to my windows (9" of lift on 35's)

Between 9 and 10 is good for me. Anyone wana meet up in Richmond area? I guess I'll be leaving here around 7ish.

Chris

The weather is beautiful I wish I were going...

Well, I got everything fix and the truck inspected. As I mentioned I'll be out of town. Oh well maybe next time.

BTW, I have heard mumblings about a trip to Globe (somewhere in western VA) by CNC 4X4 of Raleigh in February. I'll get more information and start a thread titled "Globe".
