Yes I do know about the search feature and I have used it for this matter.

But my question is directed at YOU =-)

I have been having gas mileage issues for a while, plus the truck seems to run a little rough. My ranger 2.3 loved autolite plugs but despised champion plugs. I am wondering if my 94 is running rough cause of the autolites.

I have pulled all of the plugs and the color indicates that there is no major problems.

i have them and i get about 25 miles to the gallon on the highway.
course i also have followed Aldives thread to improve mileage,

i have no issue with these plugs , they seem to work fine for me,
aside from being a PITA to change,

i got autolites in mine . have not had any issue's from mine so far .if you look at the other post about the guy that had hugh gaps with his plugs ...this was me when i bought my truck ,the motor craft ones were sooooooo shot ( big gaps ,not melted tho like the other guys plugs just wore out) .i have offen thought about installing a better plug than the ones i have in it now .has anybody used one of those split fire type plugs that multiple electrodes on them ? i wonder if they are any good ?

...i run the ap's in both my 2.3L ranger and my 4.0L X with no problems...

......what is your odometer reading and do you have other mods to your engine??? when was your last full tuneup??? have you checked for stored codes and tire pressure???

your best bet with an explorer is to stick with properly gapped motorcraft or autolite plugs. that said, i ran autolite plats in my 92 from the time i bought it new and never had any issues. got 16-18 mpg driving around and 24 or so on the highway.

I have 87k on my truck and I have givin the full on superstar tuneup. My computer spits no codes, I am getting about 13-14 miles city and about 18.5 on highway. I do have a 3.27 rearend I am not sure how that affects anything though, from what I understand it should get better highway mileage with that rear end.
The only thing I have changed is the sparkplug wires cause they look brand new, should I change them?

BTW my autolites are properly gapped, at least I gapped to what the autopart store told me.

What is the proper gap anyway?

Never had any issues with Autolites. My parents expo had the platinums for almost 100k before I changed them. They still looked almost brand new and that thing would still get around 22 mpg on the freeway with my lead foot driving it.

if you only have 87k on a 94 i despise you, lol. i'm at 260k on a 93

...off the top of my head, they gap at .054......wires might be a plus to change but, there may be something else causing the loss of mpg...search around on here as this topic is current...:D

I run AC plugs in just about everything, but my Motorcycle (NGK). AC plugs are awesome, especially when installed in a Corvette.
