Hello, Here's my story, I have a '94 xlt, with a junk tranny, (I know big surprise). Well the opportunity has come up that I can purchase a '95 limited that was rolled over with 50k, for an excellent price. So the question is, is it possible to swap trannys from the 95 to my 94. I know that there basically the same tranny as far as mechanics and dimensions, but how about the electrical side of it, ie: plugs, computer. The 95 comes with the computer but not the wiring harness. So if anyones heard of it it would be greatly appreciated. Am I just grasping for straws here?

Basically, if you want to do that, you're gonna need to update your engine to the 95 style with the 95 upper intake, computer, and wiring harness.

The 4R55E is completely computer controlled. Shift points, firmness, everything. Where the A4LD is not.

Since you'd need the new ECU to control the tranny, you'd need the engine too with all of the correct sensors. The ECU takes into consideration what the 4wd system is doing when telling the tranny to shift and how to act, so since the 4wd systems are different you'd probably need a 2wd computer. The speedo in '95+ models are electric and different than '91-94 models... blah, blah, blah...

You might run into a lot more than you are prepared for.
