The explorer is now on the road but we noticed before that the gas was really jumpy. Well I drove it and I believe its the spring for the throttle cable I think its lost all its tension which is makin the gas pedal jumpy. I'd like to fix that before we get wjiplash lol. Any other thoughts on what it could be?

If it were the spring the truck would continue to rev after you remove your foot from the gas. Try just lubricating the TB. On my fathers X the gas got very touchy when going from no throttle to just barely cracked opened, lubing everything up fixed that. If that doesn't work, or it's only part of the solution then it's probably the throttle cable, when they get old they can have corrosion which keeps the cable from sliding smoothly through the sheath.

Ok i'll try lubin the pedal assembly (already did near the TB) but if that doesnt work will one out of the junkyard be fine?

Another thing to look at. The bracket that the gas pedal mounts on underneath the dash can break loose from the firewall. I also thought it was the throttle cable, but the bracket just broke off the firewall. It was pretty easy to fix - just drilled out the rivit points on the bracket and the holes in the firewall, then put in some bolts. I think I saw a TSB on this website - but I fixed this on mine long before I found this website.

Ok i'll check it out tomorow when it dries up (we just got a bad rain storm)
