Has any one used these? My truck needs new plugs and wires and i came across this product at Truckperformance.com. The page claims that there will be a 5-10% increase in power. I am wondering whether or not there is any truth in that statement. Would they be worth the $176?

Just my question of the day:p.

I never heard of them. I have the Taylor wires & they work just fine.
I can't imagine they would make a big difference. For $176, I'd save that for something that does prove to make a difference.

Please don't waste any time or money on those. They don't help. Look on the Magnacor website. They have an excellent information section about ignition plug wires.

Basically plug wires need to have the best insulation possible, center core resistance has nothing to do with the flow of spark plug current. The Magnacore wires will last longer than anything else.

Check the Speedfreaks website for best prices, $90(V6) and $128(V8). I was going to buy Taylor wires, until I discovered the Magnacor products. Good luck,

I have heard of Nology Hotwires. They are known as a ricer wire--ricer scene uses them, VW people like them. I would not spend $176 on a set of wires. Also any claim of 5-10% increase from wires is no good. Magnacor and Jacobs are good wires; Taylor are high on the list too.

Ok, thanks for the heads up! I love the fact that i can ask a question here and get a decent answer.

they are good wires but way overpriced.....
they use a capacitor on each plug and work i nthe same way a cap works for your thumping bass system.... when the system cant provide the full power for whatever reason it steps in and appears to be constant..... its a great idea, and works... but your truck is already using a pretty high powered and good ignition system to begin with.... so really there is no need for it....

No, sorry, but the explanation on the Magnacor website is much more plausable. There aren't any real tests that confirm any gains with them, and I believe Magnacor when they claim that power is being diverted to those metal jackets, and shortening the life of the wires.

The real issue that average people don't understand is that, spark plug power does not run through the core of the wires, thus measuring wire resistance is more than a waste of time. The power runs around the core, as in magnetic field, thus the insulation is the most important part of plug wires. When the insulation breaks down, even though a connection is being made, engine miss occurs. Then errant electrical interference affects other electrical components, which there are many many near the engine.

Buy the best basic wires that you can. Magnacor, Jacobs, Taylor, and a few others are very good. Stay away from the gimmicks, and the cheap cost auto parts store wires. They will be better than bad wires, but not at the same level as the best. Regards,

Don,
Do you have the link to the page that use buy the Magnecor wires from? I can't seem to find it from Google.

Here is the Magnacor home page:

Here is a link to their TRUTH ABOUT IGNITION WIRE CONDUCTORS page:

Here is a link to a page that lists the Explorer wires from Magnacor:

They have raised there prices in the last couple of weeks. I am sorry that I suggested $90 and $128 as V6 and V8 prices, it looks like now they are $98 and $145.

I will be buying the V8 set soon. Regards,
