Anyone wiht OBDII scanners in Long island?

I have had my abs light on for a week or so. My dad said just to leave it and not worry about it, but i cant help but want to get rid of it. I have an apt with the dealer next mon, but they have a minimum 89.99 charge for pulling the code, and then watever to repair it. I have the extended warranty, but my deductible is $100. Id be willing to pay someone to pull my codes in the Long island/ new york city area. Im going to somerset, nj this sat, if anyone is around there, id glady stop by.

Is anyone willing to help me? Please?

bump.. anyone? please help

The majority of OBD II scanners won't read ABS codes anyway.

Only a few will. So, you might be forced into going to the dealership.

yeh.. i know.. but some people on the board have the scanners that can.. im just hoping someone in the ny/nj area could help me out

bump.. help...

ok.. i guess im stuck with bringing it to the dealer. just one question, when they pull the codes, do they do it from under the steering wheel? or do they have to pull the ecu? i dont want to pull my apten and replace my intake, because im hoping they wont give me a bs excuse that those two are throwing the codes.

you better believe they will try and blame it on anything.

some nationwide autoparts stores will pull your codes for free. check out advanceauto parts. they might do it. or be able to loan you a scanner.

AutoZone scanners won't read ABS codes.

Yes, ABS codes are pulled through the standard OBD II conntector. They might try and screw you regarding the chip if this is warranty work.

i just brought my truck into the dealer, and they said they pulled the code, and it was a wire or the wiring that is messed up. they havent found which wire exactly, but said they would look into it. i asked how much total it would cost, and they said 250 for parts and 2.5 hours labor. is changing the wiring something i could do myself? im not the most mechanically inclined, but i have a few friends that can help. i already told them to go ahead if they can finish it today, but if they cant, im gonna call them and tell them to just give me back the truck so i can fix it myself. any suggestions?

$250 damn man you could have gone out anfd goten your self a scaner and fixed it your self for less

well its also watever wire they had to replace. its going to be done tom, and a scanner is around 2-300 isnt it?

Most scanners won't pull ABS codes anyway. DiagTek can, I just purchased one of these. It was $250. Plus, you need a Palm Pilot. However, it pulls ABS, Airbag, GEM module and lots of other codes that many scanners won't. I have not fully tested it yet, but for $250 it can pull just about anything on a Ford. Bad part is, it works on Ford ONLY.
