Three or four weeks ago I instaled a MAC intake with Pro-M MAS

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111317&highlight=MAC+Intake

A week after that my Apten Chip went in.
Here are the combined results.

:( The chip install is VERY tedious ( sp? ) cleaning the terminals was a long drawn out process. I actually instaled the chip too soon and it did not start. So, when you insall your chip, just take your time and make sure you clean the terminals throughaly and properly. Expect to spend fifteen to 20 mineuts at least on this step.

Needed a helper to fish the switch cable through the fire wall and into the passenger compartment

:) It is not pin you in the back of the seat fast but this heavy, 4WD, about as areodynamic as a Twinkie SUV WILL SCOOT !!!!!!!!!!!!
Off the line is impressive, but nail it going 60, is out right unbelieveable for being in such a vehicle.

The switch cable ( likely by design ) is the EXACT length to go from the chip to the center console compartment. ( I was VERY pleased about that )

The differance between 92 and 87 performance is not a tremendous amount.
I had it on 92 for one week and have had it on 87 since then.

My MPG's have jumped tremendoulsy !!!!!!!!!!!!! Prior to these mods, 245 to a tank ( give or take ) was the norm.
Now 270 to 280 per tank, and that includes stomping on it from time to time.

All in all some of the best mod's I have done thus far. It was about what I was expection on preformance, but I was NOT expecting such MPG gains.

Umm....Don't you mean 270 to 280? Otherwise that would be a pretty drastic drop. :p Anyway, glad to hear it came out so well. I plan on putting one in mine as soon as I get up the moolah. Later.

sounds impressive..i may have to partake of that

Yay! He got it. After hearing you talk about it I may have to look into one sooner than I thought! I don't know if I can afford 93 though :(

I promise you that you wil not be disappointed in either Apten's chip or their Programmer.

i have a 96 sport 5 speed manual will i notice a hp difference with this chip, the only thing i have done is cut the cats off and ran a high flow dynomax muffler. oh and i also bought a jets chip a couple years ago and it was a complete waste of money. what would you guys recommend.

You will see some gains, you just won't feel them like with an auto tranny.

You will definately see mileage improvement.

Thanks J602 I edited it.
Yeah what a testamony, I am getting 100 less MPG.
How embarassing !!!!!!!!!!!

Todd, the Apten Chip comes standard with 92 and 87 performance.
Just a twist of the knob and it is all up to you.

if i go with a normal single program chip, is it worth the cash to go to 92 or should i stick with 87

Hmmm...I wonder if they have a chip for my Acura.

Billy you can get almost any puter controlled car chipped, four differant ones in my family, eclipse, BMW,lexus, ford
Enjoy
