Are there any cons to the BFG All Terrain KO's

I love my BFG's, moreso the 31s than the 275s as they just cut through conditions a lot better. The 275s disappointed me in the traction department, even in rain, but I'm quite satisfied with the 31s, esp in last years heavy winter.
I'm glad I gave BFG a 2nd chance. I think I got mine for ~115/ea at JackWilliams Tire Co. I paid $125ish in Maine for the 275s when I got them.
Shop around... hell, Sam's wouldn't even stick them on saying they'll rub/against manuf. recc's... pulleeeasse.
That was the other reason I looked elsewhere.

Do it... I doubt you'll be sorry. As for noise, sure, they're louder than your standard radial but I don't think my teeth or ears are sore after a drive... there are much louder out there.

sunbum, or anyone else.
I take it from this thread that no-one here is considering the Goodyear AT/S.
I was plannining on putting the 265/75/16 or 255/70/16 in the AT/S on my 03 EXT next week, but now I am wondering what the deal is with the KO.
Have any of you had experience with both, and have an opinion between the two of them?

Thanks, Kevin

Between the Goodyear ATS and the BFG AT, BFG all the way. They get better traction, last longer, and have stronger sidewalls.

I never had a problem with my BFG's hydroplaning either, but they are not the greatest in snow.I have had worse.

I got my BFG 31's at Sam's for $540.00. Definitly check their...

I had GoodYears on there originally... can't recall if they were ATS but they had some fun tread action going, but I felt they could've been better...
I just wanted something more since I like to 4x4, and checked the site to see what people were running at the time and gave the BFGs a look.
I have been quite happy with the look and performance of the BFG AT KO 31s.

I want to hear what opinions are between the BFG KO vs. the Bridgestone Revo. So far I'm sold on the revo's...

nope, no such luck. hey do you have an instant messenger? i'd like to discuss these tires sometime. i don't dip 5 bills into anything i don't research thoroughly (especially when i have the time since i'm only up to 2 or 3 bills:p)

Yes, my Revo's only have a 2 ply side wall.. who cares... I don't do enough rock crawling for it to matter.. besides the BFG's are heavier (bad MPG's) and ride rougher and aren't as good in wet pavement. When buying a 31" tire, I would worry more about on road saftey than which is better in Moab. My Revos actually have a more open tread design than the AT KO's and they clean better in mud (tested that last weekend when the jeep was running AT KO's).

No, I don't do extreme rock crawling.. I'm in college and this is my ONLY vehicle. I can't afford to break stuff but I do love getting out in the woods.

Also, the Revo's have a great warranty and a 30 day Money back guarantee/test drive period

My BFG dealer told me that BFG doesn't warranty their tires... they just sell them on their name... Frag that

People love BFG's.. great... But their are other tires out there for less money that offer as good or better performance in every category.

Tell ya what though.. buy whatever will make you happy b/c you have to drive it :D

*step down from soap box*

I think the main issue would be size here. The revos largest size is 31" where as the KO goes up to 35".

For me, I want a 33" and Revo.s are not available in that size, but the KO is.

There are many tires out there. Try the Mickey Thompson MTX. It has an aggressive tread while still being road friendly.

I'm guessing BFG doesn't warrant them because they're abused so often. I didn't realize what kind of weight difference there could be, though. any idea what the specific weights are?

Goodyear over BFG.

I run the Goodyear AT/S on my Navajo. Before I bought the AT/S I had run numerous sets of BFG AT and MTs on various other vehicles - but none of them have been the redesigned BFG's. So I made my choice with some experience. The BFG's were on 3/4 or 1 ton trucks and I didnt replace them with BFGs - they got Goodyear workhorses, or Dunlop AT's.

The AT/s on my Navajo work great in snow and excellent on ice, good in the dirt, rocks, not so good in mud, super in the rain-predictable with much less hydro-planing than I experienced with the stock AT's(even with a wider cross section) . Not as quiet as a street tire. I was happy with them, never had any problems. 40k miles from them. I am suspect about the sidewalls on them, they are flexible, but the tread heads up the sidewall a bit which keeps the sidewalls from bulging down low close to the contact patch. Airing down doesnt do as much on the GY AT/s as compared to the BFGs - you take the air out of the BFGs and the sidewalls really bulge- great for traction, but I believe this is why they get damaged sidewalls. But I never had a problem, was on a trip where the BFG shod TJ in front of me sliced his AT. Only one in the group to loose a tire. For a mostly road driven vehicle that sees an occasional trail the At/s are good tires. Ill purchase them again no doubt.

My experiences with BFGs arent so good - The tires on my work trucks were problematic- a couple of cut sidewalls, bubbles, and balance problems. They were good in dry dirt, ok in snow( the trucks pushed snow) and sucked in mud (AT's) For an all terrain tire they were louder than I thought they should be. The work trucks got Dunlop ATs which have been great in the snow, and run quiet and seem to be tough as a tire can get. Plus they were fairly inexpensive.

The BFGs still seem to be popular- I thought they had a great warranty, one of the reasons people buy them, and also a factor in the cost. Ive read many reports of the tires being damaged and BFG replacing them. Maybe something has changed?

BFG is a second tier brand for Michelin, and for onroad/light offroad the Michelin LTX may be a better riding choice than the AT. No experience with them, but havent heard much bad about them.

FWIW, I would (and did) pick the Goodyear AT/s over the BFG AT.

Glad YOU like 'em...I've had nothing but problems with Badyear, though. 40k mile-old tires (195-75/14 S-rated) off a pontiac grand am i had YEARS ago were only 4 years old at the time, but had rotted out sidewalls and I was forced to replace them all a week after i had the car. When I had my camaro, it had badly wearing eagle-somethings. I hadn't even beat on them (enough) but they hydroplaned just enough to total my car on the interstate. NO MORE "GOOD"YEARS FOR ME!

He He He

I got my BFG ATs (31x10.5) for $440.

how did you get the BFG's for soo cheap!!! i wanna know!

Scott

I got then at a local shop. But I really wish I had a lift kit to fit more rubber tho. There's a big difference when comparing a 31x10.5 to a 32x11.5. Now I can't imagine a comparison to a 33x12.5! My 31s would look puny next to those things.

OK here's my questions!! Please reply!

I can either get the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's mounted, balanced, tax included for $498 (from Firestone shop)

OR

I can get the BFG A/T KO's mounted, balanced, tax included for $460 (from Sam's club)

Both are 235/75-15's

MY QUESTION IS: Which of these is better in snow? and are those good prices?
